The Integrative Health Centre is equipped with an in house laboratory as well as an extensive and highly specialized medicinary. This provides a unique experience for most individuals who have become accustomed to having to make multiple visits to various labs and pharmacies. Our medicinary carries a wide variety of professional vitamins, minerals, herbals, homeopathic, and glandular medications. The Integrative Health Centre has made a commitment to their patients to provide only the highest quality, and most effective, products. Therefore, the majority of the medications are not available in local health stores and many are imported from Europe and around the world.
The Integrative Health Centre provides the following testing procedures:
Specialized Urinalysis
Live Blood Cell Analysis
Hair Analysis
Nutritional Counselling
Salivary Hormone Testing
Specialized Urinalysis
Urinalysis is used to evaluate properties such as acidity, concentration (a measure of how dehydrated an individual may be), and the presence of sugars, blood, or protein in the urine. These properties may indicate irregularities and disturbances in the urinary system. Specialized urinalysis is used to further evaluate chemical imbalances and stressors within the body. Live Blood Cell Analysis
Your blood carries the life force of your body and it is the river of life pulsing nutrients to the cells and carrying away waste products to be dealt with by the liver and eliminated. Live blood cell analysis is carried out by placing a drop of blood from the client's fingertip on a microscope slide under a glass cover slip to keep it from drying out. The slide is then viewed at high magnification with a dark-field microscope that forwards the image to television monitor. Both practitioner and client can then see the blood cells, which appear as dark bodies outlined in white. The results are then used as a basis for prescribing supplements. Most of its users are chiropractors, naturopaths, and nutrition consultants. Learn more Here.
Hair Analysis
A laboratory technique used to assess mineral imbalances and heavy metal toxicities within the body. Toxic levels of heavy metals such as cadmimum, aluminum, lead and mercury have been shown to result in a number of disease related conditions. Lowered levels of minerals may indicate inadequate nutrition or absorption of these nutrients and may be a causative factor in diseases such as cardiovascular disease, anemia, blood sugar imbalances, osteroporosis, and insulin sensitivity.
Nutritional Counselling
Evaluation of dietary protein, carbohydrate, fat and fiber intake on a daily basis. Detailed nutrition recommendations and programs are designed to meet the specific needs of the individual.
Salivary Hormone Tests
Used to assess hormonal status in males and females. Evaluates hormonal levels of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid hormone, cortisol and DHEA (stress hormones). Imbalances of these hormones may result in menopausal symptoms, decreased ability to adapt to stress, temperature and metabolism imbalances, cancer development and cardiovascular degeneration and inability to lose weight.
